91ÁÔÆæ student discovers her calling in tax and bookkeeping

When Maria Renta-Marrero enrolled at Springfield Technical Community College, she didn’t expect two elective courses – Federal Income Tax and Bookkeeping – to spark a career transformation. Born in Puerto Rico, Renta-Marrero is a Springfield resident and mother of two. She had previously left behind a successful two-decade career in banking to care for her health and focus on her youngest daughter. Going back to school was a leap of faith.

91ÁÔÆæ announces spring 2025 dean’s list

91ÁÔÆæ celebrates the accomplishment of the 1,234 students who were named to the spring 2025 dean’s list. The dean’s list is published each semester to recognize excellence in academic performance. To be considered, degree-seeking students must earn 12 or more college level credits in the current semester, or a total of 12 or more combined college-level credits earned during the fall and spring semesters, and achieve a 3.3 or above grade point average.
